The Southeast Biodynamic Conference
For 38 years, farmers, gardeners, and homesteaders who are interested in biodynamic methods have been gathering to learn and celebrate the season together. This a family friendly, educational event with a strong spirit of celebration, cooperation, and inclusion. There are educational workshops throughout the weekend as well as delicious home cooked meals, live music, skill sharing, and plenty of time to sit around the fire and enjoy the farm.
The Schedule
The full schedule of the conference weekend will be shared here as we confirm the line up.
On Friday afternoon, there will be farm tour or pasture walk. There is a meal on Friday evening followed by a keynote address to focus our thoughts for the weekend.
Saturday is a full day of workshops. The first chapter of Rudolf Steiner’s Agriculture Course will be read aloud and discussed at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Workshops will focus on biodynamics this year, with both theoretical and hands-on explorations, as well as integrated permaculture principles and holistic health for humans and farm animals. As always, there will be preparation-making in the barn. Three delicious home cooked meals will be served. Following the Saturday evening banquet, there will be a talent show. All are encouraged to participate, and the children are often the stars of the show. After the talent show, we enjoy live music and dance.
Sunday is a more relaxed day with plenty of time to socialize. The second chapter of the Agriculture Course will be read aloud and discussed beginning at 11 in the morning. Breakfast and lunch will be served. We will bid fond farewells to those who need to leave, but encourage everyone to stick around for more of the re-enactment in the week to come!
Lodging
Primitive camping, car camping, and RV parking are available at on the farm. There are indoor toilets and spring water at the main camping spot. There are no RV plugins or hookups available anywhere on the farm.
In the nearby town of Red Boiling Springs, all the rooms at the historic Armour’s Hotel and Spa are available for conference participants. It’s a nice option if you are looking for more amenities. The healing mineral water baths are a real treat! When you book your room, be sure to let them know you are coming to the conference.
If the Armour’s Hotel is sold out, there are other accommodations available in town.
Tickets
Tickets are $100 in advance, and $125 at the door. No one is turned away for financial reasons, but we may ask you to wash dishes.
